Born 1976 in Esztergom, Hungary. Moved to Denmark in 1994. Graduated from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, exit 2005. Works with painting, video and installations.
“With her feet firmly planted in photography-based art, the Danish-Hungarian painter Orsolya Bagala Larsen brings forth an ambiguous world imbued with inscrutability and absence on the one side and quivering imminence on the other. This universe is activated especially by precise framings of fruitful collisions and erratic transitions between what is apparently important and meaningful and that which is insignificant, situated on the periphery. In some places, Bagala Larsen makes use of seductive panoramic perspectives. Here, fundamental questions about both the motive and the credibility of the picture as such turn up and teeter on the verge of a profound sense of doubt: Is the building the important element here? What’s happening in there? Where are we, anyway?”
